Where can I get a copy of my birth certificate?

Where can I get a copy of my birth certificate in Korea?

If you were born in South Korea, the hospital where you were born should have your birth certificate. However, hospitals may no longer hold on to your birth certificate after a certain amount of time. If the hospital has been closed down, you need to find a community health center near where the hospital was. They should have the document, at least in theory. Community health centers are called boh-guhn-soh in Korean. If you were born outside of a hospital, but within Korea, things are a little bit more complicated. As far as I know, you need to make a birth certificate yourself with two adults' signatures.
